December Already?!?!?  Wow.

Shopping Frenzy

I was really amazed at the number of listeners who believed that Walmart was mostly to blame in the shoppers stampede that killed an employee Friday.   I mean, they’re in the business of selling stuff to people, right?  They’re not security experts, crowd control personel or behavioral scientists.  should they have forseen a huge problem like that?  I don’t know, as far as I’m aware, this is the first incident of its kind at a place like this.  If it’s a “Who” concert, or “Metallica” or something, you might be more prepared for an incident.

The blame to me, as I mentioned on Friday, lies wit the ANIMALS who couldn’t have cared less for human life.  Their entire focus was on obtaining some sale item in the store, and were perfectly fine with trampling a fellow human being to make sure they got it.  Unbelievable.

Will President Obama Face a Two-Front War in Afghanistan?

As the body count rises, and the full horror is revealed in the accounts of traumatised survivors and the photographs of the dead strewn around Bombay’s (Mumbai’s) tourist venues, the investigation into the atrocity is at full pelt.

Already a disturbing theme is emerging: that two of the world’s most bitter and intractable conflicts, in Afghanistan and Kashmir, could be merging into one.

According to Indian authorities, the trail of the gunmen who ran riot in the streets and hotels leads back to the wild terrain of Pakistan’s tribal border areas, from where groups linked to al-Qaeda plot a global jihad.

The connection is strengthened by the fact that the terrorists singled out British and American citizens as victims for their slaughter, and by reports that the attackers included “British citizens of Pakistani origin”, most probably trained in the tribal areas.

But other significant factors are in play, too. In their propaganda, the terrorists named the territorial dispute over Kashmir - for which Pakistan and India have twice gone to war - as a cause of their actions, along with grievances over the treatment of India’s Muslims by the Hindu majority.

This juxtaposition of causes is no surprise to observers of the region. India and Pakistan have long used factions within Afghanistan as proxies in their long dispute over Kashmir.

Earlier this year, US intelligence officials accused the higher echelons of the Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence organisation (ISI) of using jihadis to orchestrate a bloody terrorist attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul.

Pakistan, in turn, is suspicious of India’s growing influence in Afghanistan, accusing its old foe of supplying arms and money to the Taliban, and to separatists within Pakistan itself.

There is a vicious irony here. It was Pakistan that first sponsored the Taliban, along with other terrorist groups, operating in Indian-held Kashmir. Yet now it finds itself endangered by the very groups it once supported.

Pakistan’s tribal areas have become a nexus for arms and money, a playground for the world’s intelligence agencies and for the jihadist groups they both combat and sponsor.

America, in particular, is fighting what is essentially an undeclared war here, one which will only increase in intensity as its attention shifts from Iraq under incoming president Barack Obama.

Foreign Law Isn’t Ours - Scalia

One of my all time politicial sources of hurt is when I see foreign law used to justify court rulings.  The most transparent is when Ginseburg cited international law to justify the Supreme Court decision to declare executing people under 18 who comitted capital crimes.  Like many other Supreme Court decisions, that took away the people’s right to decide and to vote on the matter through their respective state legislatures.  Using foreign law also challenges the authority of the Constitution.

Justice Antoine Scalia is a saving grace for the Constitution.

Judges who use foreign laws to interpret the U.S. Constitution are rewriting it rather than respecting its founders, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told a roomful of judges and top lawyers in Houston on Monday night.

“I fear the courts’ use of foreign law in interpreting the Constitution will continue at an accelerated pace,” the 72-year-old conservative jurist said…

Scalia was typically evangelical in his advocacy of “originalism,” or strictly adhering to what the Constitutional authors meant more than 200 years ago. He criticized those who see the Constitution as an evolving or “living document” that adapts to the times.

Batman R.I.P.? - Tell Me It Ain’t So

This is it – “Batman R.I.P.” concludes here! The final, heartrending confrontation between Bruce Wayne and Jezebel Jet. The final fate of The Dark Knight. And the horrifying and shocking truth behind the Black Glove. With The Joker, the Club of Villains, Robin, Damian, plus an ending you’ll never see coming – this one has it all! (Source)

From y understanding, the “shocking truth” is that the Black Glove s Bruce Wayne’s father who finged his own death when Bruce was a young lad.

My ony concern is, isn’t it a bit early to whack off the Bat?  And by his old man?  After fighting scores of psychopaths?  Lame, lame, and lame.

Shut Up You Christians - Beginning With You Mormons

The current gay activism our country is experiencing has little to do with reaching equality for all as is does with shutting up the Christian religion.  The other night I came across the following video posted by Jay at StopTheACLU.com.  Please take the ten minutes to watch it.  It’s a news report about how Crystal Dixon was fired from the University of Toledo for simply writing a Christian-based opinion piece in the campus’ newspaper.  The video also shows how a lesbian administrator of the same campus previousy wrote a pro-gay / anti-religious piece and no action was taken against her.

Shoppers Stampede Kills Walmart Employee

One of the most disturbing stories I’ve ever seen, happened this morning.  As the doors opened at 5am at a Long Island Walmart, 200 shoppers stampeded inside, tearing the doors off their hinges, and trampling to death a store employee.

How do you wake up the day after Thanksgiving, and you’re enough in the Christmas spirit that you’ve set your alarm for 4am, so that you can be in line when Walmart opens at 5; yet, while you’re in line, you become so obsessed with obtaining that Wii, X-box or DVD player, that you are willing to run over the top of another human being to get to that on-sale item?  Oh, and by the way, it’s all to celebrate the birth of our Savior.

It’s just another reminder of how out-of-control our priorities are.  And it’s another illustration of how this nation could elect a man to the office of President, with as many question marks as this one has.  We are screwed up morally.
